The Salt Mountain from Saratel / La Montaña de Sal de Saratel

The Salt Mountain from Saratel, Bistrita-Nasaud County is a unique geological and floristic nature reserve from Transylvania. It is a protected area located at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in the north of Transylvania. The Saratel Salt Mountain it is at just 12 kilometers from the Bistrita City, at the confluence of the Bistrita Ardeleana River, Sieu River and Budac River. The Salt Mountain is near the DN 15 national road, in the eastern part of the Sărăţel village.

The Natural Reserve of the Salt Mountain has a lot of protected species and covers an area of ​​5 hectares of forest. The protected area is a massive salt (diapir), covered by quaternary deposits. The alluvium is brought by the waters of the Sieu River and Budac River, which in some places is discovered and it is observing the massive salt. Here it has developed a vegetation specific for the salty soil, including: glasswort, pickleweed (Salicornia herbacea), spear saltbush, common orache (Atriplex patula), Siberian Statice (Limonium gmelinii), Weeping alkali grass, European alkali grass (Puccinellia distans) or reed (Phragmites communis).

Like all the Transylvanian nature area the Salt Mountain from Saratel is a virgin area where the flora and fauna lovers can find more interesting plants, birds and animals to see.

La Montaña de Sal de Saratel, distrito de Bistrita-Nasaud es una reserva natural geológica y florística única de Transilvania. Es un área protegida ubicada en las estribaciones de las montañas de los Cárpatos, en el norte de Transilvania. La Montaña de Sal de Saratel es a sólo 12 kilómetros de la ciudad de Bistrita, en la confluencia del río Bistrita Ardeleana, del Río Sieu y del Río Budac. La Montaña de Sal se encuentra cerca de la carretera nacional DN 15, en la parte oriental de la aldea de Sărăţel.

La Reserva Natural de la Montaña de Sal cuenta con una gran cantidad de especies protegidas y cubre un área de 5 hectáreas de bosque. El área protegida es una sal masiva (diapiro), cubierto por depósitos cuaternarios.
